Meet Jessica

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Masters degree in Counselling. I am committed to walking alongside individuals in their journey towards change.

I have experience working with folks of all ages struggling with a variety of challenges.  I use a number of psychotherapies including mindfulness-based therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), solution focused therapy, Attachment Framework, Narrative therapy and Motivational Interviewing in order to create individualized planning to meet your unique needs.

I also have training in DBT Skills. The skills taught in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) contain an array of strategies designed to help people struggling in life lead happier and more productive lives. The most widely researched treatment for problems characteristic of Borderline Personality Disorder (including recurrent suicidal and self-harming behaviours), DBT teaches a variety of concrete skills for helping people be more mindful, better tolerate distress, improve interpersonal relationships, and effectively manage emotions.  These skills are increasingly being used to assist people also struggling with a variety of other mental health problems, including substance abuse, eating disorders, and treatment resistant depression.

My approach to clients is always strength-based, as I believe that every individual has unique strengths and resiliencies that can serve as a foundation for their personal growth. I create creates a safe, respectful, and collaborative therapeutic relationship, where I support individuals to recognize their strengths and wisdom while they move towards the life they want to have for themselves

I have worked in a therapeutic capacity for 6 years specifically with individuals struggling with the effects of substance use.  Presently, I work full time for a non-profit organization, Pacific Community Resource Society providing therapeutic group counselling for youth struggling with the impacts of substance use.
