I have experience working with folks of all ages struggling with a variety of challenges. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Masters degree in Counselling. I use a number of psychotherapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), solution focused therapy, sensorimotor psychotherapy, internal family systems and Motivational Interviewing. I have additional training in Acceptance and Commitment therapy and Sensorimotor psychotherapy and Dialectic Behaviour therapy.
In my professional life I have worked as a therapist and clinical supervisor since 2010 with individuals struggling with the effects of substance use, relationship challenges and trauma. Presently, I work full time for a non-profit organisation, Pacific Community Resource Society providing clinical supervision and therapy for people tangled up in the effects of substance use and concurrent disorders. I believe in shouldering up the counsellors I work with to continue to do the best work we can and continue to support the people who need it.
My approach with clients is strength-based and I believe every individual has unique strengths and resiliencies that can serve as a foundation for their personal growth. I create a safe, respectful, and collaborative therapeutic relationship, where I support individuals to recognise their strengths and wisdom while they move towards the life they want to have for themselves.
